The Suzuki Method is an approach to teaching and learning that was developed by Shinichi Suzuki. Every teacher has a slightly different approach (this is a good thing!) with some consistent tenets:
- With the right support, every student can be successful.
- Music is learned in much the same way as language.
- Listening to reference materials is a core element of learning.
- Positivity and encouragement are key.
- In addition to private lessons, students should expect to take part in group classes and performances.
- The purpose of learning music is to support people in their development as lifelong learners with kind hearts. It’s not just about learning an instrument.
